A prototypical Virtual Environment is built that is parametrically driven by the emotional state of the end user. The target occupants are grieving adults. The program (function) of the space is that of a “library” where the occupant enters the space in search of words and text relating to the topic of grief. The content found will be uniquely tailored to the occupant’s current emotional state, indicated via self report. The variety and intensity of emotions felt by grieving individuals are a shared universal experience. This VR project explores the cognitive aspects of grief in an immerisve envirnoment by utilizing texts gathered from online forums, staple literary resources and user-submitted entries, creating an empathetic architectural ecosystem around the topic of grief.
